Reducing the Spectral Index in F-Term Hybrid Inflation

چکیده

We consider a class of well motivated supersymmetric models of F-term hybrid inflation (FHI) which can be linked to the supersymmetric grand unification. The predicted scalar spectral index ns cannot be smaller than 0.97 and can exceed unity including corrections from minimal supergravity, if the number of e-foldings corresponding to the pivot scale k∗ = 0.002/Mpc is around 50. These results are marginally consistent with the fitting of the three-year Wilkinson microwave anisotropy probe data by the standard power-law cosmological model with cold dark matter and a cosmological constant. However, ns can be reduced by applying two mechanisms: (i) The utilization of a quasi-canonical Kähler potential with a convenient choice of a sign and (ii) the restriction of the number of e-foldings that k∗ suffered during FHI. In the case (i), we investigate the possible reduction of ns without generating maxima and minima of the potential on the inflationary path. In the case (ii), the additional e-foldings required for solving the horizon and flatness problems can be generated by a subsequent stage of fast-roll [slow-roll] modular inflation realized by a string modulus which does [does not] acquire effective mass before the onset of modular inflation.

Supergravity Modification of D-term Hybrid Inflation: Solving the Cosmic String and Spectral Index Problems via a Right-Handed Sneutrino

Supergravity corrections due to the energy density of a right-handed sneutrino can generate a negative mass squared for the inflaton, flattening the inflaton potential and reducing the spectral index and inflaton energy density. For the case of D-term hybrid inflation, we show that the spectral index can be lowered from the conventional value n = 0.98 to a value within the range allowed by the ...

Super Hilltop Inflation

In this paper, we consider logarithmic radiative corrections and higher order terms to the supersymmetric hilltop Fand D-term hybrid inflation models. Conventional Fand D-term hybrid inflation only predicts ns > ∼ 0.98. We show that via a positive quadratic and a negative quartic correction the spectral index can be reduced to ns = 0.96 suggested from latest WMAP result and also cosmic string p...

Extended D-term Hybrid Inflation

In this paper, we show that if we extend D-term hybrid inflation by adding a light scalar field which couples to a waterfall field, large non-Gaussianity can be generated at the end of inflation. Contribution of cosmic strings generated after D-term inflation to the Cosmic Microwave Background (CMB) angular power spectrum can be as low as 10% and this also evade the spectral index problem. cmli...
